Jeyinef : A Star In The Making
Who Is Jeyinef?
A Regular Born Resident of Brooklyn, NY who discovered his talents at 17 starting off with a group of friends. Before discovering my talents I’ve always had so much love for music ever since I was young since my father used to jam his Kompa, Reggae, and Rap music daily with the speakers turned up. Grew up to Haitian Parents. I didn’t fully discover rap before my uncle had continuously played (Ludacris — What’s Ya Fantasy) on BET when it was popping back then and I immediately fell in love with the rap scene. My first name starts with a G and my last starts with an F so I turned those initials into a word like if you were to say (G and F), what I did was turn it into my own word, which is now (Jeyinef) that represents me, who I am and what I represent. I actually represent staying true to self and to your people at all times, humbleness, ambition, determination, basically striving to be or being a big boss is what I want folks to see I represent. Love amongst our brothers is what I also represent and no beef. I also went through some hardships when I was younger and recently when I was homeless 2 years ago. Found my way back up by myself and I’m ready to let the world know who I am by myself I’m all about trying to change things up a little bit if I can.
Who would you consider your influences in the music industry?
First & Foremost I would love to say Biggie Smalls because I remembered really starting to listen to him back when I was around 11 years old and I kid you not, I honestly couldn’t believe the way he had worded his raps in ways I don’t see others can. He was just so smooth & sharp with his bars, and I’m like I is not never heard talent like this from anybody yet and remind you I was 11 years old when I really started listening to Biggie like that. That was like 11 years after his death and after I’d listened to most of the rappers that were out at that time. He was and still is a very big influence to me and also due to the fact that he’s from Brooklyn.
My other influences would have to be Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, & Jay-Z. I don’t think anyone has ever had the drive Lil Wayne has for the game. You are talking about a dude who isn’t even an old head yet that already has 25 mixtapes and like 13 studio albums. It’s funny because I see guys that try to be like Lil Wayne and drop projects like him to try and make it seem like they are going to be the greatest rapper alive because they are putting out so much content like he is. The only reason I laugh at this is because I’m over here like, I don’t think ANYONE can be as ill as Lil Wayne when it comes to metaphors being used correctly especially the way he delivers his versus on his songs and featured songs. Lil Wayne truly has a gift for rapping AND Good music that a very few people have in this world and you can’t disregard that fact.
I was obsessed with Rick Ross music at one point of my life when I was a teenager. Rick Ross is a mastermind when it comes to actually putting a great song together and he ever really disappoints. I still listen to some of his old and his new music today. I remembered when BMF came on when my mom had taken me to this Haitian party and I instantly fell in love with the vibe and from there on I went on to listen to this song everyday for three years straight. No kidding. I was also addicted to MC Hammer when that came out as well.
Also, Jay-Z is one of my biggest influences and I think it’s more on the entrepreneurship side of things other than the music even though I feel like he’s a God when he gets in the booth and freestyles his songs and versus and that’s also the thing. He’s a great musical artist that had made great hits that I still listen to till this day and for a guy like Jay-Z to be the person that he was back 2000 to become the man that he is in 2020 it gives you hope that other guys in the game can go in that Jay-Z route if they learned how to make good decisions like he did in order for him to be successful in his and his family life. Jay-Z thought of legacy knowing the type of talent he had would lead him to the promised land while the others thought more of a luxurious lifestyle then an actual legacy for their kids or for the future generations knowing the talents they do have. But Jay-Z was always a hitmaker, from Dead Presidents to What’s Free. It was his decision making which made him the man he is today and that is why he is so much of an inspiration to me.
What would you consider your biggest accomplishment thus far in your career?
Well, to be honest I don’t think I have too big of accomplishments as of yet but I can say that I have successfully dropped my first mixtape ever last year around this time and shot 2 videos for the songs that were on my project. One of em is (Going Away) where I’ve accumulated more than 10k views in the last 7 months since posting it and I got about 2k views on my (Due Now) song which premiered on YouTube back in May of this year 2020. I did 2 shows, one was in queens in which I performed in front of A&R representatives while I didn’t even have a song out yet and it was my first show back almost 2 years ago. I also did a show around my area in Brooklyn but it was a small gathering of people. I’m really looking forward to doing future shows for my new fans I have gathered ever since I dropped my project last year. I’ve gained a good amount of fans in my eyes without too much promotion and I want to keep creating content for my now fans and future fans. I do need help tho lol I’m doing all of this on my own. Also, I will not disappoint with my project dropping out next month. It really sounds like a classic. Might be the best underground project you’ve heard from an artist this year and I’m actually super confident in saying and feeling that way.
What legacy would you like to leave behind for yourself?
I would like to leave a legacy of more knowledge and wealth amongst my black peoples all over the world and help our race to conquer more things when and if they can. I want to leave a legacy knowing that I’ve got more than 100 grammies knowing that I’m on top of the music food chain with Michael Jackson, The Beatles, James Brown, Dr. Dre, Quincy Jones, Biggie, Lil Wayne, Eminem, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, and I honestly believe I could do that. Those guys taught me work ethic and with my talent that I have possessed will show me the way like how those guys found a way. I would also love my kids to be involved with carrying that success for me too but it’s really not up to me. Time and strategy are key to all of this that I’ve envisioned for myself in the next 25 to 30 years.
Where do you see yourself in the music industry in the next 5 years?
I honestly see myself touring city to city, state to state next year, and really making a name for myself across the globe. I really and truly don’t see anything else but greatness in years to come actually. In like 5 years I’d probably have like close to 20 or close to 30 grammys. I’m just way too talented and too hard working for me not to have them in a bunch by the time 5 years to reach. Jeyinef will be familiar to a lot of people. Luxurious living too. I really do see that though lol I’m not lying.
Shout Outs?
Yes, of course-big shoutouts to my fam, my mom, sisters, brothers. Ayo shoutout to Drew lol To Jherdon! My engineer. He’s been a major piece in helping me put these songs together like I would want to and you can’t get no other engineer as cool and professional as this guy so big shouts to him. Shout out to Tammo Jango and shouts to my best pal and manager Marvin.
