Who Is Tima J?
I’m a young female rapper from VA with hopes and aspirations to chase my dreams and take care of my family. I literally love music and wake up with lyrics or a song in my head. I started writing back in 2014, mostly covers of other people’s songs. Then, two years ago, I wrote my first rap and, the rest was history. I write everything that I rap about. And, I’m very spiritually in tune and a soon to be college graduate.
Who would you consider your influences in the music industry?
Too many to count. JayZ, Andre 3000, Diddy, Dave East, Left eye, Chris Brown, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi b, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, etc. I admire these artists for their business minds, style lyric ability, ambition, and showmanship. I try to take a piece from each of them and add my own style to it.
What would you consider your biggest accomplishment thus far in your career?
Actually finding the courage to come out with my music. I used to be so shy and scared of what others thought of me. But, once I started working on my self-love and realizing my worth, I started chasing my dreams and not caring about other people’s opinions.
What legacy would you like to leave behind for yourself?
Breaking generational curses, providing for my family, and enjoying life. I feel as an African American woman the odds are automatically against me so, I have to fight for my people after me, and have fun while doing it. I don’t want to live a plain life, I want to live for me.
Where do you see yourself in the music industry in the next 5 years?
At least 3 albums out, working with so many talented people I can learn from as well as teach them, and being an entrepreneur and business woman. I see myself being successful and happy with where I’m at, because I’m happy with my progress and where I’m at currently. As far as goals, I feel that whatever is for me will come when it’s my time.

Shout out to GOD first and foremost. Without him I am nothing and can’t get anywhere. Shout out to any and everybody who support me. I truly appreciate all the love and support. Shout out to my family and loved ones, because they’re who I do all of this for. Lastly, shout out to the haters who waste their energy and time hating me. I appreciate them because they can only know that they hate me if they’re watching my every move.
